Highlighting the unique glass and metal architecture of the façade adorned with mashrabiya-inspired patterns.
Located on the banks of the Seine, facing Notre-Dame, the Arab World Institute is an iconic building of contemporary Parisian architecture. Designed by Jean Nouvel and the Architecture-Studio agency, it was inaugurated in 1987 and symbolizes the meeting of Arab culture and modern engineering.
Its glass and metal architecture, inspired by traditional mashrabiyas, is distinguished by a façade pierced with over 800 mechanical diaphragms. These elements, similar to solar cells, regulate natural light and create a play of shifting shadows inside the building, offering a fascinating visual experience for photographers.
Each change in light, each reflection or fragment of shadow on the glass surfaces becomes an opportunity for a graphic and sensitive composition. I aimed to capture this interplay of shapes, rhythms, and transparency, while paying tribute to the geometric precision of this unique façade.
From the panoramic rooftop terrace, the view over Paris is spectacular, with the rooftops of the capital and the silhouette of Notre-Dame in full view. A visual breath not to be missed during your visit.
