Punta Cana, located on the famous Coconut Coast, offers a variety of landscapes: white sand beaches, leaning palm trees, and turquoise waters. These shots, taken in August 2016, reveal the vibrant colors and natural contrasts of the Dominican Republic.
Under a bright blue sky, isolated palm trees create striking graphic compositions. Their tilted trunks and visible roots in the sand show how vegetation adapts to tropical conditions. These iconic trees rhythmically line the coastline with elegance.
Using a tilt-shift lens, some images adopt a dreamlike aesthetic, where only one plane remains in focus. This technique guides the viewer’s eye and turns beach scenes into almost surreal landscapes, playing with depth of field.
Typical architecture, like blue beach huts nestled among coconut trees, adds life to the scenes. These simple structures blend into the lush surroundings, creating a contrast between man-made elements and wild nature.
Some scenes, intentionally blurred at the edges, draw attention to central elements: people walking along the shore, children playing in the sand, or waves gently lapping the beach. These become poetic subjects in a calm, contemplative atmosphere.
At sunset, golden light filters through the palm forest, turning the landscape into a vibrant glowing scene. The interplay of shadows and highlights gives the impression of a tropical painting.
Each photograph reveals a different facet of the Dominican Republic, far from tourism clichés. With windswept palms, wild beaches and intimate everyday moments, this series offers a sensitive and personal vision of the Caribbean island.
