Photographing the Light-Filled Atrium at Fondation Louis Vuitton – Frank Gehry’s Floating Fishes
A visual immersion into a suspended world. Under the glass roof of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, luminous fish float midair, captured through the lens in a space where sculpture, light, and Frank Gehry’s architecture converge.
Inside Frank Gehry’s Aquarium at Fondation Louis Vuitton
Suspended in midair beneath one of the vast glass atriums of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, these monumental luminous fish seem to drift in a space evoking a contemporary aquarium. Their openwork scales diffuse a warm, vibrant light, transforming the installation into a living sculpture.
Frank Gehry’s architecture—a blend of transparency, curved structures, and layered geometries—amplifies the feeling of immersion. Reflections on the glass and metal beams extend the fish into an optical universe in motion. It becomes unclear whether we are observing an artwork or submerged within it.
When photographing this installation, I aimed to convey this dreamlike and airy ambiance. The chosen angles reveal both the lightness of the forms and the power of the architectural volumes. Light becomes material, and space a stage for silent contemplation.
