Japan Bridge and Sunset Towers in La Défense – Two Visions, Twenty Minutes Apart
Two visions of the same place, separated by twenty minutes. These images of Japan Bridge and the towers of La Défense capture the changing light at dusk in Paris’s business district.
In La Défense, the Japan Bridge stretches across the tracks, linking high-rise buildings designed by leading architects. From this elevated perspective, one can witness the subtle transformation of urban light as evening falls.
The first image, taken just as the sun slips below the horizon, bathes the facades in warm hues of gold and purple. The towers—Kupka, Société Générale and Pacific—glow with sunset reflections, while the flow of car headlights creates a vibrant rhythm below.
The second image, taken twenty minutes later, immerses us in the district’s nighttime atmosphere. Artificial lighting takes over, revealing a different mood: a play of shadows and mirrored surfaces, with streaks of car lights underlining the city’s ongoing energy.
Which one speaks to you more: the golden hour, or the urban night?
