Porte Marguerite de Navarre, a landmark entrance to the Forum des Halles in Paris, is a contemporary creation with remarkable architectural features. Its monumental staircase and undulating metal-and-glass walls make it a visually compelling subject for any architectural photographer.
While capturing this scene, I was drawn to the golden light filtering down from the top of the structure, creating a striking contrast with the metallic surfaces and organic lines. The constant movement of people on the escalators added life to this bold architectural space.
In the black and white version, I sought to emphasize the interplay of curves, geometric precision, and repeating textures, highlighting the structure’s graphic intensity. In color, warm tones enhance the immersive and almost cinematic feel of the scene.
The Porte Marguerite de Navarre was designed by architect David Mangin and is part of the larger redevelopment project of Les Halles, the historic and commercial heart of Paris.
