Philharmonie de Paris – Photographing the Architecture of Jean Nouvel
Where music meets architecture. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the Philharmonie de Paris offers a stunning subject for architectural photography.
The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in 2015 and designed by architect Jean Nouvel, is a landmark building in the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. This venue dedicated to classical and contemporary music impresses with its futuristic shape and striking façade, made of 340,000 interlocking aluminum bird motifs that reflect light in a constantly changing play of shadows and textures.
I had the opportunity to photograph this building on October 6, 2022, capturing both its monumental structure and subtle architectural details. The interplay of metallic reflections, shadows, and geometric patterns provided a rich visual experience for architecture photography that is both graphic and sensitive.
This photographic approach focuses on the balance between lines, textures, and natural light, aiming to reveal the building’s complexity. The eye is invited to wander through the composition, to observe shifting planes, play with scale, and discover the harmony between form and function.
