This image, taken from an elevated viewpoint in La Défense, plays with a strong geometric composition. Nearly 80% of the frame is occupied by a large paved area, crisscrossed by bold red and black lines that visually structure the space and immediately draw the viewer’s eye.
The regular rhythm of these lines creates an almost hypnotic effect, enhanced by the smooth asphalt and subtle curvature of the road. Two vintage-style street lamps, with their vertical lines and delicate curves, add a touch of classic elegance to this otherwise modern and graphic setting (see other urban compositions).
In contrast, a human figure—a man in a suit about to enter a car—occupies a tiny portion of the frame, in the top left corner. His presence, posture, and motion break the image’s strict rhythm and introduce a moment of spontaneity.
